Femme Frontera Returns for its 9th Annual Festival

June 7 - June 8, 2025

The Femme Frontera Film Festival returns in 2025 with a bold new format. Now a full-fledged film festival, it features multiple shorts blocks, live performances, and expanded programming. For the first time, all events are free and open to the public, offering an inclusive space to celebrate women and gender-expansive filmmakers from the border and beyond.

This year’s lineup includes powerful coming-of-age stories centered on identity, resilience, and relationships, with regional talent like Celina Galicia, Sara Gonzalez, and E.N. Cole featured alongside international voices.

Festival highlights include:

  • A sneak peek screening of Traces of Home with director Colette Ghunim, followed by a workshop on intergenerational healing
  • Three curated shorts blocks: Mi Chuco, Tu Chuco (Local), Paisa Block (Latine), and Proudly ME (LGBTQIA)
  • Live performances by drag artist FiSh the Clown and hip-hop collective Batallones Femeninos

The festival will take place at the new Mexican American Cultural Center, a vibrant space that celebrates border culture through the arts. This is a weekend of film, community, and celebration you won’t want to miss.
