The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is proud to host our 6th Annual Nonprofit Conference—an in-person gathering designed to support and strengthen nonprofits through high-impact learning and meaningful connection. Whether you are focused on leadership, fund development, operations, communications, or program strategy, this conference offers practical insights and tools you can apply immediately.

For the first time, we’re extending the learning beyond conference day with four additional capacity-building workshops—designed to help you continue building skills, strengthening strategy, and putting ideas into action.

Pual Cicala

Paul Cicala is an award-winning journalist, storyteller, and dedicated community advocate with deep roots in the Borderland. Known to many through his work at KVIA ABC-7, Paul has built a respected career in both news and sports reporting, while earning a reputation for sharing meaningful, people-centered stories that highlight the heart of our region.

Throughout his career, Paul has received multiple Emmy nominations and prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards, along with numerous honors recognizing his excellence in broadcasting. His experience spans local, regional, and national reporting, always grounded in authenticity, professionalism, and a genuine passion for connecting with the community.

In addition to his work in media, Paul is passionate about service, mentorship, and education. He has volunteered with local organizations, supported charitable causes across the Borderland, and remains committed to uplifting the people and stories that make this region so unique. His warmth, experience, and strong connection to the community make him a meaningful voice and a wonderful addition to this year’s conference.

Adam “Smiley” Poswolsky

When companies want to drive culture transformation and
increase trust, belonging, human connection, and team

workplace belonging expert, and bestselling author of four
books that have been translated into multiple languages,
including The Quarter-Life Breakthrough, Friendship in the

Smiley shares industry-shaping insights and practical
tools to attract and retain top talent across generations,
create a culture of belonging, and engage high-performing
teams, at world-class organizations like Apple, Google,
Verizon, JPMorgan Chase, Mayo Clinic, and the U.S. Navy.
Smiley’s TED talk has been viewed 2 million times, and he
has delivered 700 keynotes in front of 500,000 people in 25
countries.

Marguerite McClinton Stoglin

Dr. Marguerite (Margo) McClinton Stoglin is a Senior Vice President, Philanthropic Strategist with the National Consulting and Advisory Practice group at Bank of America Private Bank. Based in Dallas, Margo works with the Philanthropic Solutions team providing custom consulting services to both grantmaking and operating nonprofits. Her areas of focus include sound governance, strategic planning, donor relationship cultivation and stewardship, and communicating impact. Her areas of expertise include education, social services, and the faith-based communities. Margo has served in several key roles with institutions including Washington University in St. Louis, Washington and Lee University, and Paul Quinn College. For a decade, Margo managed her own consulting firm providing strategic guidance to both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. She also has significant board experience, currently serving with a gubernatorial appointment on a statewide commission. She enjoys partnering with key stakeholders to provide the resources needed to serve all communities. She received her undergraduate degree from Emory University where she played varsity tennis and was on the National Championship team. She has two master’s degrees. The first is in education is from Harvard University, and the second in business from the University of Texas at Dallas. She also received her doctorate from Florida State University. She is married with two children and a dog.

Elsa Borrego

Elsa Borrego is Principal Consultant and founder of Culture First Consulting, in El Paso. Elsa has led Global Training Teams for Bank of America and USAA. She served as Global Head of Culture & Training with Helen of Troy, a consumer packaging company headquartered out of El Paso, SVP of Human Resources with GECU, and Chief People Officer with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and master’s degree in Adult Education & Training from the University of Phoenix. She is a proud graduate of Leadership El Paso Class XL and serves on the Board of Directors of the El Paso Children's Hospital, Nusenda Credit Union and Executive Forum.

Rosemary Marin

Rosemary Marin is a board-certified Labor & Employment attorney (Texas Board of Legal Specialization) licensed in Texas and New Mexico. She is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer and as Best Lawyers® “Employment Law – Management Lawyer of the Year” in El Paso.

Representing management, Ms. Marin handles the full spectrum of labor and employment matters for local, regional, and national employers—from day-to-day counseling and preventive training to high-stakes litigation and regulatory defense (including Title VII, FLSA, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, and labor union matters). A seasoned trial lawyer and certified mediator, she is known for proactive risk prevention and strong advocacy, with a track record of successful outcomes in employment claims, administrative charges, and dispute resolution.

Deeply committed to the profession and the community, Ms. Marin is active in numerous legal and civic organizations and has been honored for her leadership and volunteer service in the El Paso region.

 
 

Chip Fulghum

As CEO of Endeavors, Chip Fulghum leads a faith-based, mission-driven organization with a national workforce of nearly 2,000 employees dedicated to helping people in need.


Since joining the organization in 2019, Chip has led a thoughtful expansion of services – helping an average of 200,000 people annually, including thousands of veterans – across the United States and Puerto Rico.
Prior to his work in the non-profit sector, Chip dedicated 28 years to the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Colonel. After retiring from the Air Force in 2012, Chip built a successful career within the Department of Homeland Security, where he served in a variety of leadership roles that saw him recognized as a Presidential Rank Award honoree and a Distinguished Executive for his work as Deputy Under Secretary for Management at DHS.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.

Gloria Terry

Gloria Aguilera Terry, CEO of the Texas Council on Family Violence, where she leads statewide strategy, builds powerful partnerships and keeps the movement both grounded and bold. With executive experience spanning the largest domestic violence organization on the US Mexico border and senior leadership at a regional chamber of commerce, Gloria blends operational savvy with deep mission focus. She currently serves as Board Chair of the Texas Society of Association Executives, Treasurer of the National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project, and board member of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, reflecting her deep commitment to governance and systems level impact. A trusted voice in policy, leadership and organizational sustainability, Gloria is known for connecting big picture vision with practical action. A newly enthusiastic student of artificial intelligence, she is exploring how emerging tools can strengthen advocacy, streamline operations and help the movement work smarter while staying deeply human.

 

Jen Shafer

Jen Shafer is a Senior Behavioral Designer at ideas42, where she uses behavioral science research and insights to increase generosity and civic engagement. She enjoys digging into tricky problems, teasing out how context and design are affecting behavior, and prototyping solutions. Through her work she's partnered with giving platforms, community foundations, and financial institutions, with a growing emphasis on civic life. Prior to joining ideas42, she worked as a merger and acquisition consultant and HR strategist, including a variety of teaching and facilitation roles. Throughout these experiences, Jen has worked to design equitable policies and services, always amplifying the needs of end-users. Jen has a BA in Psychology from Rice University and an MS from MIT in Integrated Design & Management, a multi-disciplinary program rooted in human centered design principles. She is based in Santa Fe and loves to hike and craft (though not at the same time).

Eleni Fische

Eleni Fischer is an Associate Managing Director on the Giving team at ideas42, a behavioral design nonprofit, developing tools and services to support donors and nonprofits. In her eight years at ideas42, Eleni has worked with donor-advised funds, giving platforms, and other donor intermediaries to create solutions that encourage more intentional giving. Prior to ideas42, Eleni crafted solutions for a more sustainable and equitable food system at a consultancy in NYC. Eleni is a double Hoya, holding a BSFS and MPP from Georgetown University. Eleni lives in Louisville, KY and spends her free time exploring local parks, playgrounds, and restaurants with her daughters.

Monica Jasso

Monica Jasso, CVA, brings decades of experience to her role leading El Paso County’s Volunteer Program, where she transforms volunteerism into a catalyst for community connection and social good.  She is committed to using her passion for the art and science of genuine customer interactions to design authentic volunteer experiences. A proud Fronteriza, Monica finds purpose in strengthening community care through the power of volunteerism. 

Monica currently coordinates hundreds of volunteers and interns across 30+ departments of El Paso County, championing inclusive systems rooted in servant leadership. As presenter, she has presented at the Texas Volunteer Management Conference, Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement (AL!VE), Minnesota Alliance of Volunteer Advancement (MAVA), National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government (NAVPLG), Volunteer Fairfax, United Way of El Paso County, Junior League of El Paso, covering topics from volunteer management basics, Latinx volunteer engagement, conflict resolution, and more.

Career highlights include a deliberate shift to the nonprofit sector many years ago, earning the Certificate in Volunteer Administration (CVA) in 2021, receiving the AL!VE’s 2022 Impact Award, and volunteering locally with various organizations.  Monica brings resolve and care to her work - and beyond the office, she’s traveling, exploring nature, diving into books, and chasing the next foodie adventure.
