Annabelle and Travis Johnson first met at Ysleta Elementary School and graduated from Ysleta High School in the 1950’s. They loved their time at YHS! While there, Travis was a standout athlete and team leader in football and track and Annabelle was a top scholar, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. Years later, after they both had pursued higher education, they married and raised a daughter in El Paso. They gave back to their community in myriad ways over many decades. Annabelle and Travis were passionate about art and politics, and they led by example, contributing their time, talent and resources to the causes that meant the most to them.
The Annabelle and Travis Johnson Scholarship was established by their daughter, Heather, to honor their legacy and to continue their family’s investment in El Paso by supporting its future through the education of the next generation of contributors.
The Annabelle and Travis Johnson Scholarship is for five graduating seniors of Ysleta High School who have demonstrated high achievement in athletics and academics.
