Carolyn Jessie Donaldson Cheng-Guajardo (1951-2019) was a selfless devotee to others, dedicating her time and talents to caring for her family, serving the Presbyterian church, and helping those less fortunate. She spent the first part of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she learned these values from her parents, Louis Donaldson and Elizabeth Simmonds (who themselves served in administration of Second Presbyterian Church), and from her grandfather, Harper C. Donaldson, who served as the superintendent of Menaul School for over 37 years. Carolyn’s future husband was a graduate of Menaul School and together they had two sons. In 1988, her family moved to El Paso, Texas, where for over 30 years Carolyn supported and served University Presbyterian Church and the different organizations to which it contributed. She also worked in retail banking and in the administration of Coronado High School. Carolyn passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2019. She very much enjoyed being a mother to her two children and later a grandmother to her eight grandchildren. This fund contributes to the regional community in memory of Carolyn to honor her selfless dedication and commitment to serve others with fervor and empathy.
