The Institute for Improvisation and Social Action is an organization that supports people to develop through improvisation and performance while advocating for a developmental approach to social action (change). Our work is rooted in activity (in how we do what we do) de-emphasizing the commodification and quantification of products. We use experimental improvised performance to generate questions, open new possibilities and shake long-held beliefs about the value of predominant aesthetics, and are committed to creating environments where people who don't usually have the chance to come together, can gather to co-create something new.
