We are an organization formed by a Circle of Women Writers based in Brownsville, Texas.
Ten members—most of whom are domestic workers—actively participate as writers. In addition, we have a broader base of more than 20 domestic workers from three key industries:
-
Nannies
-
House cleaners
-
Home care providers
Our Focus
To develop leadership among domestic workers through narrative power—the collective ability to create, build, share, and position stories and messages intentionally to influence society.
Our Values
Equity, solidarity, and honesty.
We believe that in carrying out our mission, there should be no distinction of creed, race, or social background. We are united by shared causes and a commitment to building a more just world.
Mission
The Círculo de Escritoras Las Malcriadas Fronterizas is an organization dedicated to developing the voices and stories of immigrant domestic workers—empowering us to be the writers and protagonists of our own narratives. We aim to shape public discourse and promote a fairer understanding of our lived experiences as women and as residents of border regions.
Through storytelling, we seek to shift perceptions about domestic workers, and we are committed to continuous learning and growth as writers.
Vision
To uplift our voices through Spanish-language writing in order to build collective power for diverse Latinx communities. Our goal is to foster long-term narrative change that reflects the richness and diversity of borderland experiences.
Non-Cash
Tangible personal property. Examples may be real estate, oil, gas, or mineral interests.
Planned Gifts
Bequests, appreciated securities, life insurance, retirement plans, and charitable remainder trusts, and more.
