ABOUT
What Remains is a multidisciplinary collective of artists, researchers, educators, and cultural organizers founded in 2018 in the El Paso–Ciudad Juárez border region. The project was born from a shared commitment to exploring the human experiences of migration, displacement, memory, and belonging through artistic practice and community collaboration.
Our work brings together photography, installation, film, sound, research, storytelling, and participatory art to create spaces where lived experiences can be shared, preserved, and reimagined. Each exhibition, residency, workshop, and community intervention becomes a new chapter in an evolving body of work shaped by the people and places it encounters.
Presented internationally through museums, universities, residencies, conferences, and community organizations, What Remains continues to grow through collaboration, connecting personal and collective histories across cultures, generations, and borders.

SUPPORT WHAT REMAINS
Your support helps What Remains continue to grow through exhibitions, artist residencies, research, publications, educational programs, and community-based workshops around the world.
Every contribution allows us to bring the project into museums, universities, and community spaces, where we collaborate with students, educators, migrants, refugees, and children living in shelters through participatory art, storytelling, photography, and La Trenza. These encounters become new chapters of the project, preserving stories, creating dialogue, and building lasting connections between communities.
Donations also support the production of new artwork, travel, documentation, and the ongoing care and expansion of La Trenza as it continues to transform and grow through each place and every person who contributes to it.
Every gift, regardless of size, helps sustain this living archive and the communities that shape it.
Thank you for being part of What Remains.
