#ElPasoKind: Community partners come together to brighten children’s summer!

When the vans for the Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso (BCG) broke down, there was worry the 2021 Summer Camp field trips for children would not happen. However, an act of kindness saved the day!

“Without the vans, it would have been difficult to pick up children from different parts of town, and our field trips would have been reduced or even cancelled,” said Evelyn Corral, Director of Field Operations. “Our CEO, Anthony Tomasheski, made a quick call to Rudolph Auto Group and without hesitation they stepped in to help!”

Thankfully, with support and kindness of Rudolph Auto Group – Helping Hands, the vans were repaired free of charge and just in time for campers to engage in their summer field trips.

“Rudolph Auto Group – Helping Hands helped quietly, without expecting anything in return. Their generosity made a difference in the lives of 94 children,” said Corral, “After a pandemic, our campers have explored, made new friends, and made memories that will last a lifetime.”

In addition to the support of Rudolph's Helping Hands, Corral said several other community partners came together to ensure that campers could participate in diverse programs that promote and expose youth to new and exciting opportunities.

“Without their generosity, our camp would not be what it is,” said Corral. “We would like to thank Rudolph's Helping Hands for fixing our vans, Tennis West, Koze, the Tom Lea Institute Downtown Walking Tour, Rancho Naranjo, and the El Paso Rhinos for everything they did to make our camp possible!”

These organizations allowed the BCG campers to enjoy field trips to downtown, horseback riding, tennis, swimming, and ice skating.

Moreover, campers received free summer camp passports from Tovar Printing and goodie bags on behalf of the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation.

“Our partners have made the difference in the lives of children by giving,” said Corral. “If ever you think your contribution is too small, don’t. It will make a difference, in the life of one, or many. As Aesop once said, ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’”
