FirstLight Federal Credit Union: Driving Philanthropy and Community Engagement

The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is proud to announce FirstLight Federal Credit Union (FCU) as one of our Partners in Philanthropy.

One of the PdNCF’s four priority areas, Nonprofit Investment includes supporting the growth of nonprofit/designated funds, including endowment funds for nonprofit sustainability, as well as providing training for nonprofit organizations for capacity building and growth.  The nonprofit sector is an economic driver of our community and as nonprofits focus on delivering their missions across myriad charitable purposes, they don’t often have additional resources to support professional development programs or paid internships.

We are truly grateful to our Partners in Philanthropy, like FirstLight Federal Credit Union, who have made a financial contribution in support of our Nonprofit Investment priority area and who are helping our local nonprofits continue to be economic engines in our community through professional development, partnership, and collaboration.

FirstLight Federal Credit Union is deeply committed to elevating both individual and community financial wellness through its philanthropic efforts. The organization, along with its Foundation, strives to inspire social change by prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Central to FirstLight FCU’s mission is the promotion of financial education in the communities it serves, leveraging its people, community ties, and industry partnerships to foster a financially literate and inclusive society.

Supporting local community initiatives and nonprofits is a cornerstone of FirstLight FCU’s philosophy. By engaging in civic activities and volunteerism, the Credit Union aims to strengthen social bonds and create a more cohesive community. This dedication to community support helps foster a sense of belonging among residents, empowering them to actively participate in and contribute to their communal growth and well-being.

A key element of FirstLight FCU’s community strategy is its partnership with the Paso del Norte Community Foundation (PdNCF). PdNCF acts as a vital social advocate for those who lack a platform to share their messages and goodwill. “The Foundation’s experienced and professional team makes them an invaluable partner in enhancing the quality of life in the area,” says Dania Angeles, Community Impact Manager, “This collaboration allows FirstLight Federal Credit Union to extend its reach and amplify its impact, benefiting more people in need.”

As a Partner in Philanthropy with PdNCF, FirstLight FCU looks forward to networking, ideating, and collaborating with other community-centric organizations. This partnership fosters a collaborative environment where resources and ideas can be shared, leading to innovative solutions that help others. The combined efforts of these organizations ensure that their initiatives are both effective and far-reaching.

In addition to these ongoing efforts, FirstLight Community Foundation is excited to announce the 4th Annual Community Foundation Golf Classic. Scheduled for Thursday, October 10, at Painted Dunes. This fun-filled event aims to raise much-needed scholarship funds for graduating seniors in the area. Community members are invited to join for a day of golf and camaraderie, supporting a worthy cause. For more information, please visit www.firstlightfcu.org.

FirstLight FCU remains steadfast in its philanthropic goals, continuing to support initiatives that promote financial wellness and community engagement. Through its partnerships and community involvement, FirstLight FCU is making a significant positive impact, enriching the lives of individuals and strengthening the communities it serves.

Thank you, FirstLight Federal Credit Union for your partnership and for supporting our growing community of philanthropy!
