In a recent, binational agreement between the US and Mexico, the Mexican federal government is aggressively vaccinating the residents of its northern cities against COVID-19. It started with Baja California and expanded to Ciudad Juárez. Earlier this month, the federal government announced that it would send more than 500,000 Pfizer vaccines to Ciudad Juárez starting on Monday, July 12, to begin vaccinating individuals 18 and older.

From the beginning, the Juárez COVID-19 vaccination program has had the support of the private sector (maquiladoras and local companies) to help the federal and state governments provide additional supplies needed to operate the vaccination sites they open every time a new age group is immunized.

With local resources depleting, additional funds are needed to cover the approximately $400,000 to operate the sites for all eligible citizens of Ciudad Juárez.

With that in mind, Auxillium (www.auxillium.net), EC Rubio (www.ecrubio.com), and the Fundación Paso del Norte (www.fundacionpdn.org) (FPDN) have opened the Auxillium Juárez Covid Fund to collect funds earmarked to cover these expenses.

The Auxillium Juárez Covid Fund will be managed exclusively by FPDN and spending will be advised by FECHAC (ww.fechac.org.mx) to ensure transparency and efficiency. None of the sponsoring parties will collect any fees for setting up or managing this fund, except for bank fees when applicable. Additionally, FPDN can receive tax-deductible donations in the USA and in Mexico.

It is evident that the COVID-19 pandemic can only be effectively addressed in these border regions through binational strategies. Help support the doctors, nurses, and volunteers continue their effort to vaccinate by contributing to this fund.
