“Music as Medicine”, El Paso Pro-Musica provides educational and cultural programming to our youth

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, El Paso Pro-Musica continues to provide educational and cultural programming to our community.

In collaboration with Jefferson High School and the Silva Health Magnet High School, El Paso Pro-Musica has created the program, "Music as Medicine." The program is designed to help Health Sciences students understand the importance of music in the medical field. Artistic Director Zuill Bailey has provided virtual presentations that guide students to understand the benefits of music and how it can be used to soothe, comfort, and heal patients.

Students are taught how music not only benefit patients, but how it can also be used to comfort caregivers, families and providers who may be experiencing the challenges that come with providing care to others during difficult times.

El Paso Pro-Musica continues to collaborate with Jefferson and Silva Magnet to ensure that "in-person" programming will be provided to students as they return to work in labs and clinics.
