Ruben Martinez, creator of #ElPasoChallenge, kicks off #ElPasoKind

As our region approaches the second anniversary of the August 3rd shooting, the Paso del Norte Community Foundation invites the community to uplift each other through acts of kindness as part of the County of El Paso’s “Month of Unity and Healing,” July 3-August 3.

Inspired by Ruben Martinez’s #ElPasoChallenge, PdNCF is continuing his challenge by inviting people to share their acts of kindness on social media using the hashtag #ElPasoKind.

Ruben began the #ElPasoChallenge two years ago after the August 3rd shooting. His goal was to challenge people to do 22 good deeds or acts of kindness in memory of the 22 people who were killed in the shooting.

“I wanted to show people that hate never wins over kindness,” said Ruben. This year Ruben kicked of the PdNCF’s #ElPasoKind campaign by visiting downtown El Paso and handing out roses. With each rose he gave a handwritten note asking people to continue spreading love by doing a good deed or a random act of kindness.

We hope that everyone will continue to spread kindness during this Month of Unity and Healing to show the strength and resilience of the Sun City!
