The El Paso High School Garden Fund supports a student-led community garden at EPHS that serves students, staff, and the community.

The fund’s current goal is to raise $5,000 for the creation of a new raised bed garden area and the beautification and enhancement of Cooper Garden. The purpose is to cultivate an inclusive garden space for students, staff, and the community that promotes education, sustainability, mental health well-being, nutrition, and community. Our garden welcomes students, families, and community members of all ages, interests, and gardening experiences.

The El Paso High Garden Club was established in 2021. We are developing an inclusive garden space for our students, staff, and community that promotes education, sustainability, mental health well-being, nutrition, and community. Our garden welcomes students, families, and community members of all ages, interests, and gardening experience.

We are currently working with La Semilla Food Center to design and build our garden through their Edible Education program.  La Semilla has extensive experience working with various schools in the border area and has the resources and track record to help make our garden a success.  By partnering with La Semilla, students and staff have access to expert resources that are specific for the Chihuahuan Desert.

Students are especially excited to create a therapeutic space where they can disconnect and calm down when they feel anxious. In addition to creating a calming space, students also want to learn and teach others about sustainable agriculture and create connections about where our food comes from. Apart from creating a new garden area, we’ll be refreshing Cooper Garden, a campus garden in memoriam of Judge Herbert "Tio" Cooper.  Our plan is to enhance and beautify the area while keeping the original native plant pollinator garden and shade tree design.
