The Paso del Norte Trail is a community-driven initiative to create a 68-mile countywide trail that stretches from Anthony to Tornillo with 30% of the trail being complete. The Trail is more than just a path; it provides alternative modes of transportation, promotes physical well-being, preserves the rich history of the Rio Grande and historical sites, and connects communities to other amenities such as schools, parks, transportation, and employment. The design of the trail considers and incorporates demographic diversity spanning health, socioeconomics, and physical ability to have the most meaningful positive impact.
Built upon existing facilities and carefully planned extensions, the Paso del Norte Trail links points of interest into a continuous trail, enriching connectivity in the region. As we work together to complete this ambitious project, we invite you to join us on this remarkable journey of connectivity, health, history, and unity by donating today. Together, we can make the Paso del Norte Trail a regional attraction and Texas’s largest continuous trail system.
Completed segments of the Paso del Norte Trail include
- Rio Grande Trail from Borderland to Country Club (10.5 miles)
- Playa Drain Trail from Ascarate Park to Capistrano Park (8 miles)
- Race Track to Executive (1.6 miles)
This collaborative project has received support from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, City of El Paso, County of El Paso, Marathon Foundation, El Paso Water, Texas Department of Transportation, and El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization.
