The recent Mija Pioneers event brought together young people from across the region for a day filled with learning, empowerment, and community support. Hosted by Mija, Yes You Can, this free educational event was made possible through a collaboration with Pioneers 21 and the City of El Paso Economic & International Development Department.

Participants took part in confidence-building activities, peer-to-peer engagement, and had a chance to explore the Mija Professional Closet, an initiative that provides access to professional clothing and support for young people preparing for their next steps in school or the workplace.

Thanks to a generous $1,000 donation from local nonprofit Teen P.O.P., two $500 scholarships were awarded to outstanding participants. Mija, Yes You Can matched the gift, awarding two more $500 scholarships, bringing the total to $2,000 in educational support. Scholarships were awarded to both promising young women and men who stood out for their leadership and potential.

Mija, Yes You Can is a fund of the Paso del Norte Community Foundation that works to empower and advocate for women and girls of all backgrounds. Through education, mentorship, and access to resources, the organization helps young people pursue their goals with confidence. The Mija Pioneers event brought that mission to life, offering local youth the encouragement and support they need to become future leaders in our community.
