Moms On Board’s Back-to-School Event Provides Hundreds of Families with Free Backpacks, Supplies, Haircuts, and More

On July 23rd over 1,000 families joined Moms On Board (MOB) and the YMCA on a sunny day at Ascarte Park for the 3rd annual MOB Back-to-School Event. Families were invited to check items off their back-to-school list before the start of the new school year. Thanks to the support of various community partners MOB was able to provide children with free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, vaccines, school uniforms, and sports physicals. MOB strives to connect families to valuable resources and promote family-friendly events. Leyla Zeidan, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of MOB, says their annual back-to-school event is important for a few reasons, “Sending kids back to school prepared gives them a better chance at success and gets them ready and excited to learn. This is also a fun way for families to wrap up the summer while learning about community resources and extracurricular activities that strengthen learning.” Individuals can learn more about future MOB events by joining their Facebook page, MOB-Families for El Paso.
