The Paso del Norte Community Foundation recently announced Walmart will award up to $300,000 in matching grants to eligible El Paso non-profit organizations through the El Paso Giving Day initiative.

“We are grateful for Walmart’s commitment to El Paso and for the continued generous financial support they have pledged to local non-profits through the El Paso Giving Day initiative,” said Tracy Yellen, chief executive officer, Paso del Norte Community Foundation. “During the COVID-19 pandemic and on-going efforts for social justice, communities across the county have called upon their non-profit sectors like never before. We’re confident that Walmart’s offer of matching funds will spark gifts large and small from individuals, corporations and foundations to support the essential programs and services of non-profit organizations in our community.”

For the fifth year in a row, the Paso del Norte Community Foundation is encouraging El Pasoans to act, give and change our community for the better by participating in El Paso Giving Day. More than 75 trusted, local non-profit organizations have already signed up to participate. Donors can give to participating non-profits of their choice. The minimum gift is just $10. Our region’s only community-wide day of charitable giving will be held a month earlier than usual this year on Thursday, October 15. Early giving will begin on Thursday, October 8.

“We’re honored to once again have an opportunity to play a role El Paso’s Day of Giving initiative,” said Walmart Market Manager Kirk Behrens. “This community has a strong tradition of caring for and lifting each other up, and Walmart is proud to both call El Paso home and to offer its support for those in need.”

Walmart is offering a match up to $300,000 for individual donations made between 12 am and 11:59 pm MDT on Thursday, October 15, through ElPasoGivingDay.org.  Each eligible non-profit organization participating in El Paso Giving Day can receive up to $10,000 in matching funds from Walmart.

As it has in years past, the Paso del Norte Community Foundation will hold an early giving period for one week before El Paso Giving Day. More information on other prizes and incentives will be announced on the El Paso Giving Day Facebook Page at Facebook.com/EPGiving in the coming weeks.
