PdNCF Spotlight: Anna Apodaca, Rental Assistance Program Manager

This month, the Paso del Norte Community Foundation’s spotlight is shining on Anna Apodaca, Rental Assistance Program Manager.

Anna joined the PdNCF team in March of 2021 and is responsible for managing the City of El Paso’s and County of El Paso’s rental assistance programs, benefiting those in our community who have been adversely impacted by COVID-19 and who are at risk of eviction. Anna maintains relationships with community organizations and partners and provides support to both landlords and tenants who are seeking funding.

The Rental Assistance Program was established in 2020 in partnership with the City of El Paso and was expanded in 2021 by both the City and County of El Paso, providing the PdNCF with $13.08 million in rental assistance to prevent evictions and homelessness.

“The past year and a half have been difficult for many individuals and families,” said Anna. “This program is so important. The assistance provided has relieved some of the stress people feel and has helped stabilize families ensuring they still have a home to go to at the end of the day.”

As a lifelong resident of the Sun City, Anna said she feels a strong connection to those she is serving.

“I know that through my role as Rental Assistance Program Manager, I am helping families stay in their homes and highlighting how El Paso takes care of its residents. The most rewarding part of this role has been the ability to help whose who are most in need. When people call, they can expect to receive caring, professional, and courteous assistance.”

The EPRentHelp.org program has served 1,670 families in 2021 as of mid-August.

“I love that the PdN Community Foundation is here to serve and strengthen our community when its most needed and that through this program we have been able to assist thousands of families.”

The EPRentHelp.org program is still accepting new applications from individuals who may be facing eviction or homelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals can visit www.eprenthelp.org or call 1-855-8EP-RENT to see if they qualify for services.
