Rental Assistance For Those Impacted by COVID-19 Struggling to Pay Rent

The Paso del Norte Community Foundation (PDNCF) is proud to facilitate the disbursement of millions of dollars of federal CARES ACT funding, provided through the City of El Paso, for rental assistance to the El Paso community.  $2.3 million has been committed to individuals and families that have fallen behind on their rent.  This rental assistance is supporting families of all income levels with priority given to those in greatest need and who may be at risk of eviction.

Rental assistance funding is still available, and PDNCF is making it easier than ever for landlords and tenants impacted by COVID-19 to get help paying rent from the EP Rent Help Program. PDNCF encourages tenants not to get complacent just because of the recently enacted prohibition on some evictions.

The following changes to the program will begin immediately which are aimed at making participation easier:

  • Use of self-attestation for situations in which applicants have made every attempt possible to provide documentation to demonstrate eligibility.
  • Tenants may apply for rental assistance for past rent dating back to April.
  • Removal of the 10% discount requirement for participating landlords.

If you or someone you know could benefit from rental assistance, please visit www.eprenthelp.org for more information.
