The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is sad to note the passing of one its dear friends. Dr. Maureen Henry passed away on August 31st, 2018 at her home in Scottsdale, AZ after a long battle with breast cancer. Maureen was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at Loretto Academy and in the El Paso public schools before joining the faculty of El Paso Community College where she worked for 31 years, nine of them as dean. Maureen earned her Doctorate in Kinesiology at the University of New Mexico and became a department head at the college. She was very active in the El Paso community where she served on numerous boards bringing her amazing combination of energy and spirit to all of them. In 2014, Maureen established the Maureen Henry Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing Health Sciences degrees in the Paso del Norte region. The Foundation is grateful to honor her life’s work in this special way.
