Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation: Longstanding Partners in the Borderplex

The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is proud to announce the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation as one of our Partners in Philanthropy.

One of the PdNCF’s four priority areas, Nonprofit Investment includes supporting the growth of nonprofit/designated funds, including endowment funds for nonprofit sustainability, as well as providing training for nonprofit organizations for capacity building and growth.  The nonprofit sector is an economic driver of our community and as nonprofits focus on delivering their missions across myriad charitable purposes, they don’t often have additional resources to support professional development programs or paid internships.

We are truly grateful to our Partners in Philanthropy, like the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation, who have made a financial contribution in support of our Nonprofit Investment priority area and who are helping our local nonprofits continue to be economic engines in our community through professional development, partnership, and collaboration.

The Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation (WGHFF) was established in 1987 and is dedicated to enhancing and strengthening the Borderplex region. The foundation focuses on giving in six key areas: Arts and Local Heritage; Economic Development, Education, Healthcare, Quality of Life Initiatives, and Elevating the Borderplex Region with state and national engagement. Over three decades, the foundation has provided over $153.4 million in support to more than 3,016 initiatives and 632 sponsoring organizations, with over 90% of our giving directed to the Borderplex region and its residents.

The foundation is funded by the shareholders of Hunt Companies, a privately held investment platform headquartered in El Paso with more than 75 years of financial structuring and operational expertise spanning the real estate, infrastructure, and financial services sectors. Through its wholly owned subsidiaries and affiliates the company operates in all 50 states, 6 territories, and 26 countries, employing nearly 5000 people.

Both WGHFF and Hunt Companies promote community growth and a sustainable future through purpose-driven investments and charitable giving as demonstrated by the recent Partner of Philanthropy donation with Paso del Norte Community Foundation. We believe that supporting the community and nonprofits is crucial because these organizations play a significant role in addressing local challenges and improving residents' quality of life. Community support helps build a robust social fabric, ensuring that everyone has access to essential services such as education and healthcare. By supporting nonprofits, we empower organizations to carry out their missions effectively, creating a ripple effect that benefits the entire region. This approach aligns with our belief in the tremendous potential of the Borderplex area and our dedication to nurturing this potential through targeted philanthropic efforts.

The foundation and company remain committed to our philanthropic goals. Recent highlights include support for the La Nube - El Paso Children’s Museum and Science Center which will open later this year.
