Memorial and tribute funds are a way to honor the spirit and character of a loved one, while improving the lives of others. There are few better ways to honor a loved one and keep their legacy alive than by helping others in their name.
Memorial and tribute funds can take various forms. They can be set up to provide scholarships, grants and charitable gifts to benefit one or more nonprofit organizations or charitable causes. The Paso del Norte Community Foundation has helped families set up memorial and tribute funds that honor their loved ones while giving back to the community in a meaningful and lasting way.

The TJ Holder Fund for Mental Health was established by Wendell Holder in honor of his son, Tyler Joseph "TJ" Holder, who passed away unexpectedly in 2016 at the young age of 20. The Fund was started with cash donation and a generous life insurance policy. The Holder family has designated the fund to be used to benefit nonprofit organizations that focus on mental and behavioral health as well as addiction issues. They seek to find alternatives to what they view as a broken behavioral health system and make a difference in the lives of families in the region.

Memorial and tribute funds can be established for people who are living. The Ronnie Parks Fine Arts Scholarship Fund was established by an anonymous donor to honor Mr. Parks and to continue his legacy of transforming the lives of local youth. Still active in the El Paso community, Mr. Parks was a theater teacher and counselor from 1964-2002. During his teaching career, Ronnie Parks taught at White Deer High School, Bel Air High School, Eastwood High School and Hanks High School. He was best known for guiding his students with gentle understanding, genuine compassion and the magic of theater - casting his students as the heroes in their own journey.
