About this Fund

The County of El Paso and MOB have been working closely together to make Ascarate Park a destination for our region. The County 10 yr. plan includes improvements and upgrades to existing areas as well as the addition of a dog park, water park, skate park, and improvements all around. MOBs 3-5 year plan includes educational components throughout the mini lake park of Ascarate. Educational componentsinclude an All Inclusive Park, Dino Dig, Musical Area, and Sensory Garden!!! Money will be raised through grants, local businesses, community leaders, AND YOU!!!!

MOB's Phase 1 will focus on:

All Abilities Playground - Inclusive play for people of all ages and abilities. Designed to promote the healthy development of every BODYS physical, social, cognitive, and sensory abilities. They are thoughtfully designed to provide a safe place where children of all abilities can play together, and are developmentally appropriate for children with and without disabilities. An inclusive playground takes away the barriers to exclusion, both physical and social, providing a “sensory rich” experience for all.

Dino Dig- Large scale sandbox with fossils to dig for, educational components throughout explaining the past cultures this region has encountered. We are looking to partnering with the Archeology Museum and the UTEP College of Science to incorporate an educational component of the prehistoric history of El Paso and digging for fossils. Through hands-on play for the community, the goal of archaeology is to understand how and why human behavior has changed over time.

Sensory Garden- Calm and quiet area with native plant landscaping that will offer space for community groups and schools to enjoy and learn.
